Dream of Petra

Inspired by the ancient landscape of Petra, this work layers memory, symbolism and imagination into a dreamlike desert composition.

Dream of Petra is not intended as a literal depiction of place. Fragments of calligraphy, archaeological forms and traces of landscape emerge through layered colour and texture, creating the sense of memory surfacing and receding across the canvas.

The work reflects the way a place can remain with us long after we leave it — held not as a fixed image, but through fragments, atmosphere and feeling.

Selected works from this series were featured as part of the set styling for the production Black Snow 3.

Some places remain within us, reconstructed through memory rather than remembered exactly as they were.
