Second Chance explores renewal through materials that have already lived another life. Recycled Nespresso coffee capsules, dried leaves, flowers and natural elements are embedded into the painted surface, transforming everyday discarded materials into part of a Cairns landscape.
At its centre, the cassowary anchors the work firmly in Far North Queensland, while layered vegetation, water and textured forms bring together the natural environment and the objects we leave behind.
The work reflects on resilience, reuse and transformation, not by hiding the history of its materials, but by allowing that history to become part of the artwork.
