The Silent Guardian

A quiet presence emerges through layers of blue and gold, carrying a sense of protection, strength and watchfulness.

The Silent Guardian explores the idea of guardianship through an expressive, almost mythical figure that emerges from rather than sits upon the painted surface. Rich blues create depth and atmosphere, while gold and calligraphic details bring warmth, movement and a sense of the sacred.

The figure is intentionally not fully defined. Part animal, part symbol and part imagined presence, it invites the viewer to form their own relationship with what — or whom — the guardian may represent.

Layered colour, texture and mark-making give the work a contemporary expression while drawing on the visual language of memory and symbolism.

Some forms of protection are felt rather than seen.
